Job summary

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi seeks a Senior Actuarial Analyst to independently develop pricing models, analyze claims trends, and prepare actuarial exhibits for financial reporting. The role includes updating forecast models and mentoring junior staff.

You will work with databases, SAS/SQL, and the Office suite to produce accurate analyses and timely recommendations. Strong communication skills are essential in this collaborative health care environment.

Qualifications

• Above average verbal and written communication skills.
• PC skills to include Microsoft Office Suite.
• Working knowledge of databases, SAS, and/or SQL preferred.
• Four years of experience in the actuarial field.
• (Years of experience in the actuarial field) + (Number of SOA exams passed) ≥ 10

Responsibilities

• Develop pricing models and related rate recommendations.
• Analyze and monitor claims trends; complete claims triangles and reserve estimates.
• Prepare restated financial statements and actuarial exhibits for financial reporting.
• Update financial forecast models and assumptions.
• Mentor junior staff and review others’ work.

Job Summary:

The Senior Actuarial Analyst independently completes a wide range of tasks to include enhancing and developing pricing models and related rate recommendations, analyzing and monitoring claims trends, completing claims triangles and reserve estimates, preparing restated financial statements and actuarial exhibits for financial reporting purposes, updating financial forecast models and assumptions, and conducting other ad hoc reporting as required. Mentoring of junior staff and review of others’ work is also expected.
