Job summary

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi is seeking a Chief Actuary to lead the development and implementation of pricing models and related rate recommendations. The ideal candidate holds a Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries, Academy membership, and at least eight years as a health actuary, with preferred supervisory experience and strong MS Office, SAS,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field.
• Member of the Academy of Actuaries.
• Fellow in the Society of Actuaries.
• At least eight years of experience as a health actuary.
• Management and supervisory responsibilities preferred.
• PC skills including Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
• Working knowledge of databases, SAS, and/or SQL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement pricing models and related rate recommendations.
• Monitor trends and review financial reporting activities including reserving and restated statements.
• Aid in the development of financial forecast models and assumptions.
• Identify cost drivers and work with a multidisciplinary team to implement cost-management strategies.
• Provide professional certification guidance and support.
