Job summary

Benchmark Senior Living is seeking a compassionate Programming/Activity Assistant to organize and implement programs for residents, promoting physical, intellectual, social, and emotional well-being in a caring environment.

The role supports the Activity Director, leads activities across one-on-one, small groups, and large groups, and emphasizes understanding residents’ backgrounds to tailor activities. Benefits available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of recreational activities.
• Knowledge of Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality.
• Ability to coordinate multiple tasks under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a seven day a week activity program that is engaging.
• Lead and implement one-on-one, small group and large group activities according to the programming schedule.
• Support and direct independent activity pursuits for residents.
• Tailor activities to meet residents’ backgrounds, abilities, interests and attention span.
• Encourage participation and monitor changes in residents’ condition or behavior.
• Report any changes to the Harbor Care Director.
• Stay with groups during excursions and ensure safety.
