Job summary

Optalis Healthcare is seeking an Activity Aide to support planning, execution, and assessment of engaging recreational activities for residents in a long-term care setting. Under the Activity Director, you will tailor programs to meet diverse needs, fostering physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

You will assist with event coordination, documentation, and everyday activity upkeep, including one-on-one visits to residents unable to join group sessions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working with older adults or in long-term care preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office or similar software.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Activity Director to plan, implement, and evaluate recreational activities.
• Encourage and assist residents in participating in group and individual activities.
• Prepare activity spaces, including setup and cleanup.
• Support the coordination and execution of special events and outings.
• Maintain accurate documentation of resident participation and engagement.
• Assist with the care and upkeep of activity supplies and equipment.
• Conduct one-on-one visits with residents unable to join group activities.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of activity programming.
• Attend mandatory in-service training sessions and staff meetings.
