Compactor Rentals of America (CRA) is looking for a Senior Accounts Receivable / Collections Specialist to take ownership of a portfolio of accounts and serve as a subject-matter expert within our AR team. This is an ideal role for an experienced collections professional who thrives on solving problems, building strong customer relationships, and mentoring others all while helping protect the company's revenue and cash flow.

You’ll work closely with operations and leadership to drive timely collections, resolve complex disputes, and help shape best practices across the department.

Position Summary

The Senior Accounts Receivable / Collections Specialist is responsible for the timely collection of open receivables on an assigned portfolio including higher-complexity and higher-risk accounts while delivering superior customer service to both internal and external customers. This role acts as a point of escalation for the collections team, partners closely with operations and leadership, and helps guide process improvements that support the department’s shared goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Own a portfolio of accounts, including higher-complexity and higher-risk receivables, ensuring timely collection through proactive account management and consistent use of aging reports.
• Serve as a point of escalation for complex payment disputes and troubled accounts across the team.
• Maintain strong, positive customer relationships that enhance and protect sales and profitability.
• Resolve payment and dispute issues promptly and professionally as they arise.
• Recommend and lead advanced collection steps up to and including account closure on troubled accounts in a timely manner to minimize risk of loss.
• Identify trends in delinquency and payment behavior and recommend process improvements to strengthen the department’s collections strategy.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior collections staff, sharing best practices and helping onboard new team members.
• Provide daily support to the internal operations team through email, phone, and in-person communication.
• Review internal accounts receivable schedules for open items and communicate required actions to operations team members.
• Lead or actively contribute to monthly reviews with leadership to discuss delinquent accounts, portfolio risk, and next steps.
• Exceed internal and external customer expectations by consistently providing superior customer service.

Qualifications

Required

• Minimum of 4-5 years of relevant collections experience, including experience with complex or high-risk accounts.
• Prior experience mentoring or informally guiding other team members preferred.
• Positive attitude with a genuine focus on taking care of our customers.
• Initiative-taking individual contributors who is also a strong team player and natural resource for others.
• Independent thinker with a strong sense of accountability for self and team outcomes.
• Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Natural problem solver with a self-starter mindset, comfortable owning ambiguous or difficult situations.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications specifically Word, Outlook and advanced proficiency with excel.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience communicating with leadership.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced, challenging environment.

Pay: $65,000.00 and up per year, commensurate with experience.
