Job summary

Anoka County is seeking a Senior Manager to lead Treasury, Accounts Payable, and Collections & Billing, providing strategic direction, ensuring compliance, and driving efficiency across financial operations. This role focuses on day-to-day workflow leadership, staff development, and internal controls within a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Six years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience in accounting, finance, or closely related field.
• In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Manage one or more subfunctions for the Finance Department and provide direction to individual contributors directly or through a team of managers to prioritize workloads, coach/mentor team members, and collaborate and coordinate with leaders and teams throughout the county.
• Develop comprehensive strategic plans for Anoka County’s current and future accounting needs.
• Lead accounting operations and establish goals that align with the overall mission of the organization.
• Serve as direct liaison with Anoka County stakeholders, facilitate meetings, promote feedback and establish open communications.
• Advise senior leaders regarding resources and methods; interpret accounts and reports to senior leadership.
• Manage modification of financial/accounting systems and subsystems and supervise related studies and analyses.
• Mitigate risk through audit procedures.
• Ensure accuracy of internal and external financial statements and reports.
• Evaluate and improve accounting processes and policies to comply with policies and laws.
• Evaluate department budget and costs associated with the accounting function.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to the accounting team.
