Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.
• Five years of government accounting experience with lead or supervisory duties.
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides required knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff; schedules, approves processes, and trains staff.
• Organizes and assigns work; monitors progress and provides management reports; revises procedures.
• Leads accounting duties; oversees year-end close, audits, bank reconciliations, and proper coding.
• Administers grants and contracts; ensures funds, payments, and compliance.
• Performs professional accounting tasks; creates training docs and trains citywide staff.
• Analyzes funds and financial summaries; initiates improvements in accounting systems.
• Prepares financial statements and reports; presents findings to management.
• Interacts with city departments on reports interpretation and trend analysis.
• Assists Controller with annual audit; prepares work papers and balance analysis.
• Prepares special reports and financial analyses as requested.
• Collaborates with Budget Manager on chart of accounts and system updates.
• Maintains and reconciles ledgers; ensures accurate recording and classification.
• Assists auditors with financial audits and provides statements as needed.
• Responds to inquiries from public, agencies, and contractors regarding fiscal matters.
