Job summary

San Diego Gas & Electric is seeking an Accounting Policy & Research Lead to drive governance over accounting standards, policy development, and SOX/ICFR compliance. You will advise on strategic transactions, ensure policy consistency across units, and partner with IT and audit teams to support system changes and reporting.

The role requires strong accounting research skills, experience with GAAP and regulatory requirements, and the ability to guide complex transactions while maintaining strong

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• Typically 8 years of related accounting experience.
• Ability to interpret evolving accounting standards and assess impact.
• CPA/CIA/CISA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead research on accounting standards and advise on strategic transactions.
• Support SOX/ICFR compliance and internal control design.
• Coordinate with finance, IT, and audit teams for policy implementation.
• Ensure proper documentation and governance of accounting policy decisions.
• Assist quarterly financial reporting and project accounting impacts.
• Develop solutions to improve policy application and monitoring.
