Job summary

Athena is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day finance and accounting operations, including journal entries, accounts payable/receivable, and financial systems. The role also drives the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting and staff training on software to streamline processes.

This leadership position requires a CPA, 10+ years of accounting experience, strong U.S. GAAP knowledge, and a proactive approach to improve controls and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• CPA certification strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience including GL accounting, financial reporting, month-end close and reconciliations.
• 3+ years of accounting leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls.
• Experience supporting external audits and tax compliance activities.
• Experience with QuickBooks or similar ERP systems; advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly and annual close processes with timely journal entries and reconciliations.
• Oversee day-to-day general ledger activities and account reconciliations.
• Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and oversight to accounting staff.
• Maintain internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard assets.
• Coordinate and support external audits and tax compliance activities.
• Oversee intercompany accounting across entities and ensure proper recording and eliminations.
• Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting workflows.
• Partner with FP&A and other departments to resolve variances and ensure proper accounting treatment.
• Support the Director/Controller on technical accounting matters and special projects.
