Job summary

Athena is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day finance operations, including journal entries, AP/AR, and financial systems usage. You will serve as primary contact for invoicing, cash receipts, and budgeting, while driving process improvements and training staff on streamlined reporting.

The role focuses on integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting, with hands-on leadership of close cycles and applicable financial analyses for the Director and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• CPA certification strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 3+ years of supervisory accounting leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual close with journal entries and reconciliations.
• Overssee general ledger, reconciliations, accruals, and intercompany activity.
• Provide day-to-day leadership to the accounting team and ensure deadlines.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies.
• Coordinate external audits and tax compliance activities.
• Oversee intercompany and multi-entity accounting processes.
• Identify and implement process improvements in accounting workflows.
• Partner with FP&A and other departments on financial variances.
• Support Director/Controller on technical accounting and system initiatives.
