Job summary

SF Fire Credit Union is seeking a full-time Accounting Manager to lead the Credit Union’s accounting operations, close processes, and regulatory reporting. This senior individual contributor role partners across departments to ensure accuracy, drive automation, and support strategic initiatives.

The position requires strong accounting expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to influence through collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in banking or financial institutions required (credit unions preferred).
• Thorough knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve staff journal entries (AP, investments, loans, etc.).
• Oversee accounts payable processes and maintain controls over expense accruals.
• Oversee fixed asset and prepaid asset processes and maintain controls over system inputs.
• Lead the month-end close process, monthly GL reconciliations, and account analysis.
• Prepare monthly internal financial statements and lead preparation of regulatory reports (NCUA 5300 Call Report).
• Lead budgeting and reforecasting processes; support audits and regulatory examinations.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement/automation and lead implementation of enhancements.
