Job summary

Duraco Specialty Tapes and Liners – A Duraco Specialty Materials® Company in Owatonna, MN is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager. You will lead manufacturing cost accounting, drive standard costing, and partner with operations to improve financial performance.

Responsibilities include leading month-end close, analyzing variances, and supporting budgeting, forecasting, and capital expenditure tracking. Mentoring staff accountant duties and supporting audits are also part of the role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous Cost Accounting experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate financial data into operational recommendations.

  • Monitor and update raw material standard costs.
  • Establish standard costs for newly created products and parts.

  • Manage inventory reserves and valuation processes.

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and COGS analysis.

Job description

Senior Accounting Manager Supporting our Owatonna Location

As the Senior Accounting Manager, you will lead manufacturing cost accounting activities while supporting broader accounting and financial reporting functions. You'll work closely with operations leaders to provide insights that improve business performance, ensure financial accuracy, and support growth initiatives.

What the role involves:
  • Developing and maintaining labor and overhead rates used in standard costing
  • Monitoring and updating raw material standard costs
  • Establishing standard costs for newly created products and parts
  • Analyzing manufacturing operations, inventory, overhead, product costs, and profitability
  • Leading month-end close activities and investigating financial variances
  • Managing inventory reserves and inventory valuation processes
  • Leading cycle count programs and year-end physical inventories
  • Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and cost of goods sold analysis
  • Supporting capital expenditure projects and fixed asset tracking
  • Preparing financial reports and providing recommendations to management
  • Overseeing Staff Accountant responsibilities, including cash receipts and accounts payable functions
  • Supporting external audits and compliance activities
