Job description

This is a hybrid role based out of EDF's New York office or remote within the U.S.

Overview

EDF’s Accounting and Finance team seeks a dynamic Senior Accounting Manager due to departmental promotions. Reporting to the Senior Director, Accounting Operations, this role involves supervising accounting staff and maintaining the integrity of accounting systems.

The position is a key member of the accounting team, responsible for overseeing financial activities, monthly reporting, reconciliations, and analysis of the organization’s US Subsidiaries.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support the monthly financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all tasks.
2. Supervise and develop accounting staff to meet organizational objectives.
3. Assist Payroll and support EDF’s ERP system.
4. Review balance sheet accounts with detailed analytical review.
5. Guide the implementation and improvement of internal controls for accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting.
6. Prepare documentation for internal audits and external auditors.
7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address potential issues.
8. Research complex accounting topics and prepare memos for reviews.
9. Support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, fostering an inclusive environment.
10. Participate in ad-hoc projects as needed.

Qualifications

1. 8-10 years of experience in accounting and financial operations; non-profit and international experience preferred.
2. BA/BS in Accounting, CPA, CA, or similar certification required.
3. Big Four experience is a plus but not mandatory.
4. Strong knowledge of financial accounting standards and ethical judgment.
5. Ability to work independently, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
6. Active engagement with staff across departments, demonstrating cultural competency and inclusivity.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
8. Proficiency in data analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
9. Leadership experience with strong interpersonal skills.
10. Experience with Oracle NetSuite and related tools is a plus.
