Job summary

Flourish Research is seeking a Senior Accounting Analyst to join our remote finance team. This role focuses on GAAP-compliant close processes, journal entries, reconciliations, and budgeting support for clinical research projects.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review monthly closings, journal entries, and reconciliations.
  • Track project budgets and expenditures with audit documentation.
  • Collaborate with project managers and clinical staff to analyze financial data.
  • Improve financial systems and procedures to strengthen internal controls.
  • Review AP month-end entries for GAAP compliance.
  • Account for year-end/month-end accruals.
  • Assist with bank reconciliations and transaction records.
  • Participate in audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Provide financial decision feedback to management.
  • Represent Flourish Research professionally with staff, clients, vendors.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

About the Job:

We are actively hiring a Senior Accounting Analyst. This is a remote position.
Shift: Monday-Friday day shift (40 hours per week)
Location: Remote- United States
FLSA Classification: Exempt

Compensation: $63,000 - $70,000 per year (based on experience)

PURPOSE: The Senior Accounting Analyst is responsible for analyzing and interpreting financial data to assist management in making strategic decisions. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting practices. Some knowledge of clinical trial reporting is a plus but not required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

A. Prepare, assist, and review monthly closing activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations. These include but are not limited to prepaids, accrued expenses, goodwill amortizations, accounts receivable reconciliation, payroll accruals, etc.

B. Support the tracking of project budgets and expenditures, providing necessary documentation for audits and tax compliance.

C. Collaborate with project managers and clinical staff to gather and analyze financial data related to ongoing projects.

D. Develops and recommends improvements to financial management systems and accounting procedures for efficiency, to conform with generally accepted accounting principles, and strengthen internal control.

E. Review and reconcile AP Specialist month end entries to ensure they are recorded correctly in accordance with GAAP.

F. Analyzes, monitors, and accounts for invoices that need to be accrued at the end of the fiscal year/month.

G. Assist with bank reconciliations and maintain accurate records of financial transactions.

H. Participates in all financial audits, audits of financial statements, & compliance audits.

I. Provide feedback regarding financial decisions that will benefit the organization.

J. Represent Flourish Research in a professional and courteous manner (verbal, written, and in appearance) when interacting with all staff, clients, and vendors.

K. Additional duties assigned by management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

A. Work is performed in a remote office setting.

B. Travel may be required up to 15%.

C. Daily computer use.

D. Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time.

E. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

F. Occasional evening and weekend work schedules.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in clinical research or related healthcare setting.

Knowledge and Skills:

A. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

B. Knowledge of clinical trial reporting is a plus but not required.

C. Must have a strong background in accounting and financial reconciliations.

D. Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

E. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

F. Proficient in NetSuite and Office 365 products.

G. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

H. Strong problem solving, risk assessment, and impact analysis abilities.

I. Demonstrated experience in process improvement.

J. Flexible and able to multi-task and prioritize competing demands.

K. Ability to think independently and influence when appropriate.
