Job summary

KSM has a Senior Associate opportunity in the Accounting Advisory group within TAS. This role focuses on post-closing projects, purchase accounting, and price adjustments for private equity and corporate clients. You will own workstreams, prepare deliverables, and interact directly with client teams.

The position emphasizes data gathering, analysis, and collaboration across teams, with opportunities to support CFO/controller services and improve close processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred or actively pursuing.
• 2–4+ years of relevant experience in professional accounting services (audit, transaction services, or advisory) or M&A.
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP with ASC 805/ASC 810 exposure a plus.
• Experience supporting purchase accounting, opening balance sheet work, and purchase price adjustments.
• Strong Excel skills; ability to build and troubleshoot schedules and support tables.
• Strong presentation and analytical skills; detail-oriented with logical reasoning.
• Strong project execution skills; able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Adapt communication style to clients and team; collaborative work approach.
• Occasional travel to Indianapolis, less than 5%.

Responsibilities

• Assist in obtaining, organizing, and preparing data for purchase accounting (ASC 805) and purchase price adjustments.
• Apply purchase agreement elements to opening balance sheets and price adjustment mechanisms; document assumptions.
• Support meetings with target company management and summarize outcomes.
• Own assigned workstreams; manage risks, open items, and next steps toward completion.
• Assist with post-closing matters, accounting investigations, and technical accounting memos.
• Support interim CFO/controller services with monthly close, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Develop checklists, templates, and dashboards to improve close and reporting processes.
• Coordinate with audit, lender, and other stakeholders; draft PBC schedules and communications.
