Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking an Accountant III (Supervisor) to lead accounting staff and deliver timely financial reporting. The role combines hands-on accounting with oversight of GAAP-compliant books and program expenditures.

You will prepare journal entries, supervise grant accounting, mentor junior staff, and ensure accurate monthly close and funder reports in a multi-program environment.

Qualifications

• Fingerprint clearance and background checks required.
• Ability to work under emotional stress dealing with challenging clients.
• Experience supervising accounting staff and mentoring junior accountants.

Responsibilities

• Lead assigned accounting staff, ensure accuracy before final submission of reports.
• Mentor junior accountants and support budgeting and grant accounting.
• Manage multiple programs and grants, prepare journal entries and financial reports.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and monthly/quarterly/yearly close for funders.
• Prepare billings and financial reports to grantors.
