Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles staff accountant position overseeing month-end close for multiple programs and budgets, ensuring accurate entries and GAAP compliance. This role supports financial reporting, grant management, and funder communications.

The incumbent will prepare journal entries, analyze expenditures, and assist with audits, billing, and close processes while collaborating with program managers. VOALA is an Equal Opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Must pass fingerprint clearance and background checks.
• Bachelor’s Degree or combination of five years relevant coursework and experience.
• Minimum of three years accounting experience.
• Experience with Federal grant reporting and fund accounting preferred.
• Audit background is a plus.
• Great Plains – SAP experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accounting data for multiple programs (some with multiple grants) while managing varying grant requirements.
• Prepare journal entries, worksheets and financial reports following GAAP.
• Provide financial analyses and participate in budget preparation.
• Assist with audits, preparing documents and reports for funders.
• Prepare monthly billing and grant drawdown.
• Maintain accounting controls in line with VOALA policies and GAAP.
• Assist with preparation of reports to Funders.
• Other duties as assigned by Director of Strategic Finance.
