BioLegend, Inc. in Waltham, MA is seeking a Senior Accountant for a hybrid role (in-office Tue–Thu). You will own day-to-day accounting, drive the monthly close, and collaborate with external accounting partners and internal teams to maintain financial integrity across the organization.

The position emphasizes ASC 606 revenue recognition, SOX controls, and integration of acquisitions. A bachelor's degree with 5+ years of accounting experience and NetSuite proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 5+ years of accounting experience.
• Understanding of US GAAP including ASC 606 for Software/SaaS/Professional Services revenue.
• Proficiency with NetSuite and Microsoft Excel; strong software skills.
• SOX requirements knowledge in a public company; Big 4 experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting activity performed by 3rd party overseas external consultant team for multiple entities globally.
• Coordinate monthly general ledger close: validate journal entries, prepare adjustments, and reconciliations.
• Oversee A/R team and assist collections.
• Support ASC 606 revenue recognition for complex arrangements.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, FP&A, Tax and other units for reconciliations and reporting.
• Perform monthly/quarterly SOX control testing.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger and revenue reports.
• Assist in integration of newly acquired businesses and special projects as needed.

Overview:

We're seeking aSenior Accountant to join our team at our headquarters in Waltham, MA. This is hybrid opportunity (Tuesday - Thursday). In this pivotal role, you'll be at the heart of our financial operations — ensuring precision in day-to-day accounting and driving a seamless monthly close process. You'll collaborate closely with external accounting partners and internal stakeholders across accounting, finance, and operations to maintain the financial integrity that supports our mission.

Your Superpowers in Action:

• Overseeing the day-to-day accounting activity performed by 3rd party overseas external consultant team for multiple legal entities globally for accounts such as A/R, unbilled, A/P, prepaid, employee accruals, intercompany, fixed assets, deferred revenue, leases, commissions.

• Coordinate monthly general ledger close: validate completeness of journal entry posting, review preliminary financial statements, prepare and record adjusting entries as necessary, preparation or review of account reconciliations.

• Oversee A/R team and assist with collection.

• Support the revenue close process which includes reviewing and documenting complex, multiple element arrangements to ensure that revenue is recognized in accordance with ASC 606.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with all business units (Operations team, FP&A, Corporate consolidation, Tax etc.): resolving open questions in a timely manner, ad-hoc projects, and process improvements.

• Perform monthly/quarterly SOX control testing.

• Prepare various monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger and revenue reports for management review as needed.

• Assist in calculation and reporting of Royalties.

• Assist in integration of newly acquired businesses including process and system changes.

• Assist in special projects as needed.

Basic qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree AND 5+ years of experience in accounting, general ledger accounting fundamentals, reconciliation processes, and month-end close activities.

Preferred qualifications:

• Understanding of US GAAP, including ASC 606, with experience related to Software, SaaS, and Professional Services revenue recognition.

• Proficiency with NetSuite, Microsoft Excel and strong computer skills.

• Understanding of SOX requirements in a public company environment, plus prior Big 4 experience (preferred).

The base salary range for this full-time position is $75,000.00 - $85,000.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Please note that base pay is only one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company. This base pay range does not take into account bonuses, equity, or other benefits which may be applicable and are dependent on the level and position offered.
