Job summary

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking a Senior Accountant with ASC 606 expertise to lead revenue recognition and modernize financial reporting from ERP sources.

You will ensure accurate general ledger processes and provide audit-ready documentation while supporting system migrations from Excel to Costpoint and Adaptive Planning. The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of accounting or audit experience, strong communication skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field plus 5–7 years of accounting or auditing experience.
• Experience preparing financial statements utilizing ERP data and reports.
• Exceptional customer service and communication abilities across all organizational levels.
• Ability to analyze problems, recommend solutions, and maintain compliance with internal and external requirements.
• Experience conducting or supporting auditors and preparing audit-ready documentation.
• Professional, reliable, proactive, and committed to continuous learning and improvement.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee ASC 606 revenue recognition, providing high level review and revenue variance reporting.
• Support modernization of financial statements to be generated directly from ERP systems.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, accruals, and disclosures.
• Identify process bottlenecks and collaborate with leadership to automate accounting workflows.
• Provide audit support for external and internal audits and coordinate with government/customer audits.
• Lead system upgrade testing and drive process improvements with IT and SMEs.
