City of New York's Sheriff’s Office is hiring an experienced Accountant, Level 2, to lead accounting operations and supervise staff. The role emphasizes accurate revenue accounting, audits, and timely reporting to the Group Chief.

The ideal candidate will have supervisory experience, a solid accounting background, and the ability to interpret financial data and enforce controls in a complex public sector environment.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• Experience supervising accounting staff.
• Ability to perform complex accounting and audits.
• Strong attention to detail and knowledge of policies and regulations.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee accounting operations and supervise staff.
• Oversee the reconciliation of revenue accounts including cigarette stamp tax and Sheriff's revenue accounts.
• Process County Trusts, Fees accounts, Income Execution Trusts and related funds.
• Review accounting transactions, bank statements, balance sheets, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Conduct and maintain revenue reports for the Office of the Sheriff and prepare financial reports for County offices.
• Provide supervisory reports and updates to the Group Chief on accounting operations and revenue activity.
• Coordinate with internal auditors and County offices regarding accounting and reporting matters.
• Ensure compliance with DoF policies and state/local regulations; assist with audits and process improvements.
• Perform other accounting, analytical, supervisory, and administrative duties as assigned.
