Qualifications

• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking a Senior Accountant – Revenue, with a strong background in ASC 606 revenue recognition to support a growing finance organization. This position will partner closely with accounting leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition, timely transaction processing, and resolution of billing and unbilled revenue issues. The ideal candidate brings a combination of technical accounting expertise, hands-on revenue accounting experience, and the ability to collaborate across Finance, Billing, Contracts, and Operations teams. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in maintaining compliance, improving processes, and supporting a scalable revenue accounting function.

Responsibilities

• Support revenue accounting operations and ensure compliance with ASC 606 and company accounting policies.
• Process, review, and analyze revenue transactions within the ERP system.
• Perform month-end close activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, revenue rollforwards, and variance analysis.
• Review customer contracts and sales arrangements to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment.
• Monitor billed and unbilled revenue balances and ensure timely, accurate billing in accordance with contract terms.
• Collaborate with Billing, FP&A, Contracts, and other Finance teams to identify, research, and resolve revenue-related discrepancies and system issues.
• Investigate and resolve revenue recognition, billing, and data integrity concerns.
• Maintain and enhance revenue accounting processes, documentation, and internal controls.
• Assist with system improvements, workflow optimization, and automation initiatives related to revenue accounting and billing.
• Prepare schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for quarterly reviews and annual audits.
• Provide guidance to internal stakeholders regarding revenue accounting policies and procedures.
• Support special projects and process improvement initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• At least 2 years of direct experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting principles.
• Experience reviewing contracts and applying revenue recognition guidance to a variety of customer arrangements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Deltek Costpoint, Salesforce CPQ, Zuora, or similar platforms preferred.
• Experience supporting external audits and maintaining internal controls.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or CPA-track preferred.
• Experience in government contracting, aerospace, defense, technology, manufacturing, or other project-based revenue environments.
• Familiarity with complex contracts, milestone-based billing, long-term project accounting, or percentage-of-completion methodologies.
