Job summary

Florida Department of Corrections is seeking a Senior Professional Accountant for the Central Office (Southwood) in the Finance and Accounting Department. The role ensures fiscal compliance, accurate processing, auditing, and reconciliation of payments and records, while providing timely support to internal and external stakeholders.

The position is telework eligible, offering opportunities for remote work within the State of Florida and collaboration with auditors, vendors, and staff.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with three years of administrative, accounting, or auditing experience.
• Alternatively, four years of post-secondary education may be substituted for experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensure payments comply with state laws, department rules and privacy standards.
• Enter and verify financial records using multiple accounting systems and software.
• Audit invoices, vouchers and documents for accuracy and proper approvals.
• Prepare reports, reconcile records, and support staff, vendors and auditors.
• Participate in year-end closing and assist on special projects as needed.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent + 3 years experience in administrative work, accounting, or auditing
