Job summary

The City of Richmond, Department of Public Utilities (DPU) is seeking an Accountant Senior to support financial reporting, processes and procedures within the Financial Operations Division. The role involves analyzing and reconciling accounts, assisting with the annual financial report, and coordinating overhead calculations for capital projects.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and 4–5 years of accounting experience; strong knowledge of GAAP and

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience
4–5 years accounting experience including payroll, cashiering, or payables/receivables processing
Proven ability to analyze and reconcile financial information and prepare reports

Responsibilities

Analyze and reconcile financial information and accounts.
Assist in preparing DPU’s portion of the City’s Annual Financial Report.
Assist with calculating overhead for Capital Projects.
Reconcile capital assets to the ledger and prepare quarterly roll-forward schedules.
Process zero account payable invoice entries for the department.
Assist internal and external auditors.
Support annual inventories for divisions and perform related duties as needed.
