County of Marin is hiring a Senior Accountant for MCERA to perform advanced accounting and budget-related work under the CFO. You will oversee daily, quarterly, and annual accounting functions, reconcile accounts, report investment activities, and provide required documentation to agencies.

You will supervise the Accounting Technician and guide staff on accounting principles. The ideal candidate has strong organizational and analytical skills, experience in public accounting, and the ability to

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in accounting including a minimum of 12 semester units in accounting
• Three years of professional accounting experience; public agency experience desirable
• Education substitutions allowed on a year-for-year basis for accounting education requirements

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily, quarterly and annual accounting functions and reporting
• Reconcile accounts and report investment activities accurately
• Provide documentation to agencies including IRS and State of California
• Supervise Accounting Technician and guide staff on accounting principles
• Audit, analyze and evaluate complex financial and statistical data
• Maintain and reconcile complex accounting records and reports
• Communicate effectively with management and staff
• Operate accounting software and ERP systems
