Job summary

Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) is seeking a Senior Professional Accountant in Tallahassee to audit and process MFMP and other payment-related tasks. The role supports approvals for the State Fuel Card program and other vendor invoices, with emphasis on data analysis, reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of State of Florida accounting policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of reconciliation procedures.
• Skill in communicating effectively with internal and external customers, verbally and in writing.
• Skill in auditing, reviewing, reconciling, or analyzing data for compliance with regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.
• Skill in preparing and maintaining a variety of accurate and complete accounting reports.
• Skill in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage completing deadlines.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize.
• Ability to use sound judgment to identify problems, generate and evaluate alternative solutions, and make recommendations.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
• Ability to work well independently yet cohesively within the section to maintain internal control measures.

Responsibilities

• Audit and process for payment service and commodity purchases in MFMP and in the FLHSMV accounting systems.
• Approve for payment the State Fuel Card program (WEX) and other vendor invoices.
• Assist with program testing, data analysis, and creation/maintenance of accounting reports.
• Resolve problems on POs with agency personnel and vendors by written correspondence, email or telephone.
• Collaborate with section staff on aged encumbrance reports and closeout of fiscal year PO review.
• Demonstrate exemplary customer service skills in interactions with agency personnel and vendors.
