Job summary

Abacus Solution Group is supporting a leading manufacturer in Baltimore, MD, in hiring a Senior Accountant who will be promoted to Controller. This role offers growth within a dynamic finance team and exposure to key business decisions.

Responsibilities include preparing financial statements, maintaining the General Ledger, month-end close, and cost accounting analysis. You will participate in budgeting and forecasting, drive process improvements, support audits, and ensure accurate reporting

Qualifications

• 4+ years of accounting experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Fast-paced environment with multitasking.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of financial statements.
• Maintain General Ledger, journal entries, account reconciliations and month end close processes.
• Analyze cost accounting activities, including inventory valuation, standard cost development, and variance analysis.
• Assist in the development and preparation of annual budgets and forecasts with department heads.
• Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and provide recommendations to improve profitability and cost efficiency.
• Continuously evaluate and enhance accounting processes and systems to streamline workflows.
• Assist with the annual audit process.
