Job summary

Regional West Health Services in Scottsbluff, NE, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This role oversees general ledger activities, month-end close, financial statement preparation, audits and reporting for assigned entities, contributing to accurate financial reporting and the organization’s financial integrity.

You will collaborate across departments, support regulatory filings, and engage in professional development within the healthcare finance community

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
• Healthcare financial experience strongly preferred, but not required
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation strongly preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger activities and month-end close for assigned entities, ensuring accuracy and complete reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and provide clear narratives to help leadership understand the drivers behind the results.
• Prepare Form 990 tax returns and other regulatory filings, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
• Build year-end workpapers and analyses to support a smooth independent audit.
• Identify internal audit opportunities, conduct reviews when approved, and share findings with leadership to strengthen processes and controls.
• Support Accounts Payable functions or guide AP staff to ensure invoices and payments are processed efficiently.
• Prepare ad hoc financial analyses for Finance leadership or Medical Center management to inform decision-making.
• Collaborate with financial services relationships to build strong, reliable partnerships.

This position is responsible for general ledger activities, financial statement preparation, audits, and reporting for assigned corporate entities, contributing to accurate financial reporting and the organization’s financial integrity.

Overview

No two days are exactly the same, but you regularly participate in Finance department activities, collaborate across the organization, and help drive alignment across initiatives. You engage in professional development and Medical Center-related activities to stay sharp and connected to the broader healthcare finance community.

Responsibilities
