Job summary

The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation in Concord, NH seeks a Controller to serve as the key finance leader under the CFO, ensuring GAAP-compliant financial reporting and leading the accounting staff. You will oversee audits, tax filings, and day-to-day finance operations including donations, grants, payroll and investments.

This role partners with IS and the CFO on accounting software, reporting, and internal controls, while advancing policy and education for staff and non-profit

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manages the selection, training, development, and appraisal of the accounting staff; deploys staff to ensure high performance standards.
• Presents financial information to staff, management, and Board.
• Leads financial management including financial statements, tax compliance, and internal/external reporting.
• Manages the annual external audit; liaises with audit staff, manager, and partner.
• Manages tax filings (990/990-T) and unrelated business income tax planning.
• Researches and implements GAAP, FASB and internal control procedures.
• Provides education to staff and management on topics.
• Manages donations, grants, payroll, payments, and investment accounting.
• Oversees accounting policies around impact investing and new funds.
• Works with IS and CFO on accounting software; provides training and develops reports.
• Ensures customer service by clarifying policies to staff, donors, and boards.
• Participates in learning to build collaboration, inquiry, listening, and equity justice understanding.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
