Job summary

Nextera Search is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager for a Family Office in New York. You will lead day-to-day accounting across multiple entities, ensure robust financial reporting, and maintain accurate general ledger and reconciliations.

The role requires 6+ years in accounting, multi-entity environments, and proficiency in Excel and accounting systems; the ideal candidate coordinates with external advisors on complex ownership structures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field required.
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in family office, investment management, private equity, or multi-entity environments preferred.
• Strong GL accounting, reconciliations and financial reporting knowledge.
• Working knowledge of partnership accounting including capital calls, contributions, distributions and K-1s.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting and financial reporting across multiple entities.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of bank, brokerage, investment, and other accounts.
• Record and reconcile transaction activity and maintain general ledger records.
• Prepare and process wire transfers and cash movements with proper controls.
• Support accounting for charitable contributions, grants, and distributions.
• Calculate and process capital calls, contributions, and distributions for partnerships and LLCs.
• Monitor funding activity and coordinate with internal teams and external providers.
• Analyze cash positions and liquidity to support investment and funding needs.
• Record and reconcile K-1s and related tax workpapers.
• Maintain organized financial records for audit readiness.
• Assist with accounting across partnerships, trusts and investment entities.
• Identify discrepancies and escalate irregularities; contribute to controls improvements.
• Collaborate with senior finance staff on special projects.
