Job summary

Ameriprise Financial, located in Minneapolis, is seeking a Senior Accountant to develop and report ongoing accounting processes for Life Company products in line with GAAP. The role covers ledgers across I&A platforms and monthly reconciliations for annuity and life insurance transactions.

The candidate will own balance sheet accounts, research variances, and contribute to continuous improvement and automation efforts. Hybrid in-office work with some remote days is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years accounting experience including general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and financial reporting support.
• Ability to evaluate critical operational and financial problems and proactively apply action steps to resolve.
• Timely research and resolution of balance sheet account variances.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manipulate and draw conclusions from large data sets.
• Proficient with current desktop tools. Advanced Excel abilities (formulas, pivot tables, etc).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work alone and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Performs accounting processes for transactions per policies and controls.
• Owns assigned balance sheet accounts; researches and clears reconciling items with various sources.
• Participates as a subject matter expert on business projects and provides metrics for improvements.
• Drives continuous improvement to enhance reconciliation quality, efficiency, and controls.
