Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 3–5 years accounting experience including general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and financial reporting support.
  • Ability to evaluate operational and financial problems and apply solutions.
  • Timely research and resolution of balance sheet variances.
  • Strong Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables) and data manipulation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The individual would be working with a talented team to develop and report ongoing accounting processes for Life Company products while adhering to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other governing agencies. Responsible for ensuring that various Ledgers and Records of the Life Company are properly accounted for and controlled. Responsible for monitoring and research of monthly reconciliations for Annuity and Life Insurance related transactions across all I&A platforms.Key ResponsibilitiesPerforms accounting processes for a variety of transactions in accordance with company policies, and internal control requirements. Prepares journal entries, account analysis, and investigates unusual balances or fluctuations.Owns assigned balance sheet accounts. Researches and clears outstanding reconciling items. Research may need to be done using various sources such as administration system reports or history screens, general ledger queries, or bank reconciliation files. Collaborates with other Finance and Client Service personnel to troubleshoot and resolve reconciling items. Provides an analytical review of monthly reconciliations to resolve variances and ensure appropriate controlsParticipates as a subject matter expert on business projects. Provides metrics to drive business changes and objectives.Drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reconciliation quality, operational efficiency, and internal controls. Identifies opportunities for automation, standardization, and reduction of manual processes while minimizing operational and financial risks.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience3-5 years accounting experience including general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and financial reporting support..Ability to evaluate critical operational and financial problems and proactively apply action steps to resolveTimely research and resolution of balance sheet account variancesStrong attention to detail and ability to manipulate and draw conclusions from large data sets.Proficient with current desktop tools. Advanced Excel abilities (formulas, pivot tables, etc).Excellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work alone and as part of a team.Preferred QualificationsExperience with data analysis tools such as Access, Power BI, Alteryx, SQL, or similar reporting and analytics applications.Innovative forward thinking approach to structured and unstructured data collection and analysis.Ability to apply root cause analysis to obtain origination of critical operational and financial problems and proactively apply action steps to resolve.Experience with bank reconciliation processes.Annuity and Life Insurance Product knowledge.In-Office CollaborationWe are a client-centric, relationship-based business. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role.
