Job summary

Ameriprise Financial is seeking a Senior Accountant to develop and report ongoing accounting processes for Life Company products, ensuring GAAP compliance and accurate ledgers across business units. You will own balance sheet accounts, perform monthly reconciliations, and analyze variances with internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• 3–5 years accounting experience including general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and financial reporting support.
• Ability to evaluate operational and financial problems and apply solutions.
• Timely research and resolution of balance sheet variances.
• Strong Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables) and data manipulation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs accounting processes for transactions in accordance with company policies and internal control requirements.
• Prepares journal entries, account analysis, and investigates unusual balances or fluctuations.
• Owns assigned balance sheet accounts and researches reconciling items.
• Collaborates with Finance and Client Service teams to troubleshoot variances.
• Provides analytical review of monthly reconciliations to resolve variances and ensure controls.
• Drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reconciliation quality and efficiency.
