Job summary

Scion Nonprofit Staffing is seeking a Senior Accountant for a mission-driven nonprofit in Downtown Chicago. Hybrid position: three days onsite and two days remote, reporting to the Controller and working with a small finance team to manage month-end, year-end, and audit processes.

Qualifications

• Strong accounting fundamentals and experience at the Senior Accountant level.
• Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred; for-profit candidates may apply if adaptable.
• Comfortable in a lean, multi-hat environment with deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day accounting functions and finance operations.
• Assist with year-end and audit-related activities.
• Collaborate with Controller and finance team across a broad range of accounting responsibilities.
• Learn and support the organization’s allocation system and related financial processes.
• Participate in the implementation of a new Accounts Payable and expense management system.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and take ownership of projects.
