Job summary

American Water Works Association seeks a Financial Accountant to assist the Financial Accounting Supervisor with processing, analyzing and reporting of accounting data. You will help prepare the annual budget and support audits, ensuring accurate financial records.

The role involves reviewing transactions, posting to the general ledger, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts and generating monthly, quarterly and annual reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required.
• Three years of related accounting experience preferred.
• CPA is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting theory and practice, GASB standards.
• Experience with government fund accounting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries and account adjustments.
• Review and maintain accounts and related financial records for accuracy.
• Balance and reconcile accounts, resolve discrepancies and correct errors.
• Prepare schedules, statements and reports for account reconciliation.
• Assist in budget prep and audit support.
