Job description

Location: The individual may be based near the Astound New York market, including Princeton, New Jersey, Connecticut, and surrounding areas. This is mostly a remote position but may require occasional commuting to the local office.

Position Overview:

The Sr Accountant (I or II) handles daily accounting operations, managing payroll, benefits, commissions, and account reconciliations. The role demands strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles.

A Day in the Life of the Sr. Accountant (I or II):
  • Execute monthly and quarterly closes, ensuring timely, accurate reporting in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Implement database solutions to automate commission calculations, e.g., through Spiff.
  • Prepare journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and analyze fluctuations.
  • Manage commission arrangements.
  • Support quarterly reviews and annual audits, and help improve accounting processes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, AP, and business teams on policies and system initiatives.
  • Participate in special projects, system enhancements, or ad hoc analyses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • For Sr. Accountant II: 3+ years of accounting experience and at least 2 years of Big 4 audit experience.
  • For Sr. Accountant I: 1-2 years of accounting experience and Big 4 audit experience.
  • Experience with month-end close processes is a plus.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Great Plains, BlackLine, Spiff).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all management levels and adapt to evolving business needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
  • CPA certification is required.

Compensation:

The salary range is $85,000-$100,000 annually, plus bonuses and benefits. Specific ranges:

  • Sr. Accountant I: $85,000 - $90,000
  • Sr. Accountant II: $90,000 - $100,000
