Job summary

EXPRESS in Columbus, OH is seeking an experienced Accountant to manage journal entries, reconciliations, and consolidation processes while collaborating with IT and finance teams.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, 5–7 years in public or corporate accounting, and CPA candidacy. Strong Excel skills and attention to deadlines are essential, with a focus on internal controls and accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required.
  • 5–7 years of experience in public accounting or corporate accounting, preferably in Retail.
  • CPA designation or working towards CPA is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage spreadsheet-based calculations for journal entries including amortization schedules, reclasses between prepaid and accrued accounts, receivable collection and evaluation, etc.
  • Manage account reconciliation process by analyzing balance sheet account balances and assembling clear support for activity.
  • Manage the consolidation process. Oversee and execute the full consolidation process for two companies, ensuring timely and accurate results.
  • Prepare forecasts and budgets. Collaborate with Finance to identify variances and either provide explanations or post correcting entries.
  • Collaborate with IT department to correct systemic issues and ensure effective functioning of financial systems.
  • Identify and take ownership for process improvements. Update and maintain effective internal control processes and procedures.
  • Other essential tasks may occur as directed by your supervisor.

Required Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Ability to work and function independently, prioritize and manage multiple tasks/assignments and consistently meet deadlines
  • CPA designation or working towards CPA a plus
  • Experience: 5-7 years experience in public accounting or corporate accounting preferably in Retail
