Job summary

DeWinter Group in Menlo Park, CA, seeks a Senior Accountant for the Finance Department in a hybrid work setting. The role focuses on month-end close, audit support, and accurate financial reporting across GAAP standards.

Reporting to the Controller, you will own cash disbursement, banking relationships, and tax information returns, while improving finance processes and systems such as Sage Intacct and Concur. A CPA and 5+ years of accounting experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience with GAAP and audit.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, dependability, and organization.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Systems-savvy; proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Sage Intacct or other accounting/ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Leads month-end close activities including journal entries and reconciliation of general ledger and sub-ledger accounts; resolves discrepancies and non-routine transactions.
• Leads preparation of assigned audit areas and manages complex transactions; escalates high risk issues to Controller.
• Maintains audit-ready documentation to support financial reporting.
• Owns cash disbursement and payment compliance with Foundation policies.
• Maintains online banking knowledge and serves as a primary contact with banking/treasury partners.
• Supports credit card program through monitoring usage and reconciliations; liaises with cardholders and providers.
• Supports tax and information reporting including Forms 1099, 1096, 1042, and 1042-S and property tax filings.
• Administers finance systems including Concur travel & expense and invoice routing; coordinates troubleshooting and vendor relationships.
• Leverages Sage Intacct, Concur, AP workflow to streamline processing and improve data accuracy.
• Identifies internal control risks and recommends remediation with Accounting Manager.
