Job summary

Extended Care Clinical, LLC in Evanston, Illinois, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The role focuses on full-cycle accounting, preparing financial statements, and guiding junior staff through accurate review and auditing processes.

The ideal candidate brings healthcare accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and a proven ability to meet monthly reporting deadlines while collaborating with management to resolve discrepancies and drive timely closes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Direct long-term care, skilled nursing, senior living, or healthcare accounting experience required.
• Strong full-cycle accounting experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Perform full-cycle accounting, including general ledger, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Review work prepared by junior accounting staff for accuracy and completeness.
• Analyze account activity and investigate discrepancies and unusual transactions.
• Review balance sheet and income statement accounts and supporting documentation.
• Investigate significant variances and communicate findings to management.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
• Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash, accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets.
• Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
• Ensure accounting records comply with GAAP and company policies.
• Support annual audits and provide requested documentation.
• Work closely with accounting staff and management to resolve issues and meet deadlines.
