Job summary

Haymarket Center is seeking a Senior Accountant to own day-to-day accounting, monthly and year-end close, and grant accounting. The role reports to the CFO and supervises the Payroll Manager, ensuring accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls.

The candidate will manage reconciliations, prepare journal entries, and provide timely financial statements with analyses. Nonprofit/healthcare accounting experience is highly valued for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required or equivalent experience.
• CPA or advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum five years of progressive accounting experience, including close, reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Nonprofit or healthcare accounting experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own and complete monthly and year-end close, including reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Maintain general ledger integrity and post journal entries for payroll, accruals, depreciation, and allocations.
• Deliver monthly financial statements and variance explanations to CFO.
• Coordinate with Revenue Cycle Management and Grant Voucher Specialist on funder revenue and receivables.
• Lead external audit coordination and prepare schedules and workpapers for audits and compliance.
