Job summary

Fremont Economic Development Corp. is seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee the full accounting cycle for nonprofit and publicly funded clients in a high‑stakes environment.

You will manage AP/AR, payroll, grant tracking, reconciliations, and journal entries, delivering audit‑ready financials with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of full‑cycle accounting, nonprofit and grants experience, and strong GAAP knowledge.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience.
• Nonprofit experience with grants management preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks or Xero.
• Experience payroll processing for multiple entities and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of client books from daily transactions through month-end close and financial reporting.
• Perform full-cycle nonprofit and grant accounting, including AP/AR, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Prepare and process payroll for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports for clients.
• Coordinate with external CPAs or tax preparers during year-end close and audits.
• Assist with ad hoc reporting and analyses as needed.
