Senior Accountant – Government Advisory

Location: Fully Remote

We’re seeking a Senior Associate to join our Government Advisory team. This role is focused on providing high-quality, ongoing accounting support to local government clients—cities, counties, and special districts. You’ll be responsible for complex technical accounting matters, particularly around GASB compliance, and will play a key role in supervising staff and training new hires. This is a client-facing role with plenty of room to contribute, collaborate, and grow.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes for government clients
• Prepare and present monthly financials in a clear, digestible format
• Analyze financial data including A/R, A/P, capital assets, and long-term liabilities
• Ensure compliance with cash, accrual, modified accrual, and full accrual accounting
• Supervise accounts payable and payroll processes
• Prepare depreciation schedules, debt amortization schedules, and trial balances
• Propose and post adjusting entries as needed
• Identify and resolve inconsistencies or variances in account analysis
• Supervise and support staff in their day-to-day activities
• Help onboard and train new hires
• Assist with planning and execution of various projects

What You Bring to the Table:

• CPA license or working toward CPA preferred
• 5+ years in a government agency role
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online (QBO) and common financial systems used by local governments
• Tech-savvy, with strong command of Microsoft Office Suite
