Job summary

Fordham University is seeking a Senior Accountant to support Accounting Services by ensuring accurate reporting and strong internal controls. The role involves managing debt service, investments, leases, and plant assets, and requires a Bachelor’s in Accounting with at least 3 years of experience.

Candidate will prepare complex financial statements, footnotes, and analyses for audits. Some evening/weekend hours may be required. Excellent Excel skills and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
• Minimum of 3 years accounting experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with internal controls and financial analysis.

Responsibilities

• Accounts, reconciles, and reports on debt service activities, investments, leases, plant assets, and bank activities.
• Analyzes and reconciles monthly statements; maintain general ledger and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepares complex internal and external monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports with accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepares footnote disclosures and supporting work papers for financial statements and audits.
• Maintains internal controls to safeguard University assets and ensure reliable financial information.
• Produces ad-hoc analyses using queries and reports.
