Nesco Resource is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage payroll and benefits accounting. This role demands strong Excel skills and GAAP knowledge while ensuring accurate financial reporting and SOX compliance. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with at least 5 years of accounting experience and a key player in month-end close activities.

We are seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented Senior Accountant to manage and execute complex accounting and reporting activities related to Payroll and Benefits. This role requires deep knowledge of GAAP, strong Excel skills, and a background in general ledger and financial statement preparation. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in at least one area of accounting and will play a critical role in month-end close, SOX compliance, and financial reporting. Experience with lease accounting is preferred but not required.
Manage and execute complex accounting functions to maintain complete and accurate general ledger records and financial statements.
Perform monthly/quarterly close activities, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
Analyze assigned accounts and partner with cross-functional teams to ensure proper accounting, planning, and analysis.
Provide guidance and review of journal entries and reconciliations completed by staff accountants.
Serve as a key resource for accounting research and policy, applying GAAP, SEC, and tax guidance to company initiatives and transactions.
Lead or contribute to special projects and systems-related tasks.
Own SOX compliance efforts within assigned areas; work with internal and external auditors to provide necessary documentation and controls.
Develop, document, and implement financial policies, controls, and procedures.
Prepare audit workpapers and support both internal and external audit processes.
Develop and maintain data sets and spreadsheets to support reconciliations and analysis.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
Master's degree (MA/MBA) or CPA certification (preferred)
Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in general ledger, payroll, or benefits accounting
Experience in lease accounting is a plus
Public accounting or audit background is an advantage
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems
Thorough knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles
Skilled in managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to interact with stakeholders at all levels
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Team player with proven collaboration skills
