Murphy-Hoffman Company in Leawood, KS seeks a Senior Accountant - Financial Reporting to assist in preparing and distributing internal and external financial statements. The role covers closing processes, complex accounting transactions, and internal controls evaluation in an in-office setting five days a week.

The Senior Accountant will lead reporting initiatives, collaborate with departments on business initiatives, review staff work, and support ad hoc reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
• Two to four years' experience in accounting or financial statement preparation with audit, public accounting or internal audit experience preferred.
• Knowledge of GAAP.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
• Highly organized individual with a commitment to consistent attention to details, meeting deadlines, and strong analytical skills and flexibility to assume additional responsibilities.
• CPA certification preferred.

Responsabilités

• Assist in closing and reporting, including journal entries, GL analysis, and variances.
• Analyze financial information and prepare reports.
• Research accounting rules and prepare memorandums; ensure policy compliance.
• Develop and document internal controls.
• Recommend improvements to accounting systems and procedures.
• Prepare audit schedules for annual external audit.
• Manage fixed asset accounting, depreciation, and annual inventory.
• Liaise with other departments on business initiatives.
• Review Staff Accountant work for accuracy.
• Support special projects and ad hoc reporting.
