The Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to perform advanced accounting across multiple entities and support accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and efficient accounting operations.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys analyzing financial information, solving complex accounting issues, improving processes, and serving as a trusted resource to colleagues throughout the organization.

Qualifications

• Requires a degree in accounting or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of financial accounting experience, preferably including insurance or auditing.
• Sound knowledge of accounting principles and auditing standards (GAAP/GASB as applicable).
• Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to interpret complex financial data.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced accounting across multiple entities and support general ledger activities.
• Prepare and post complex journal entries; reconcile accounts.
• Analyze financial results and compare to budgets; monitor cash balances and liquidity.
• Own intercompany accounts and resolve discrepancies; prepare investment accounting.
• Support annual budgeting process and department financial analysis.
• Lead audit schedule preparation and coordinate with external auditors.
• Identify and implement internal control improvements.
