Job description

At Branch Basics, our mission is to empower people with the education and tools to create truly healthy homes. As part of our rapidly growing, mission-driven team, you’ll help raise the standard of healthy living by connecting people with products and information that genuinely improve their wellbeing. We’re a collaborative, values-driven group committed to education, empowerment, community, inclusivity and positivity. This role will have an opportunity to make a significant impact as we scale Branch Basics into a mainstay and trusted brand in the better-for-you-and-your-home space.

About the opportunity:

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Senior Accountant to join our Finance team and help build additional depth, capacity, and redundancy across the function.

This is a broad individual-contributor role combining day-to-day accounting responsibilities, meaningful participation in month-end close, financial analysis, and process improvement. This person will work closely with the CFO and Senior Finance Manager and will take increasing ownership as they learn the business.

The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation but wants a role that goes beyond transactional accounting. We are looking for someone who is curious, analytical, responsive, comfortable with technology, and motivated to take ownership and grow.

Some of your contributions include:
  • Own meaningful recurring accounting processes, including vendor invoices, accounts payable, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules.
  • Participate meaningfully in the month-end close and take increasing ownership of assigned close responsibilities.
  • Support inventory and other operational accounting as needed.
  • Develop knowledge across critical accounting processes to provide meaningful backup and continuity within the Finance team.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and well-supported financial records.
  • Work directly with the finance team on financial analysis, annual planning, forecasting, cash flow, gross margin, channel/customer profitability, and other ad hoc business questions.
  • Work comfortably with financial data and spreadsheets to identify trends, variances, risks, and opportunities.
  • Provide timely and responsive financial information and support to teams across the company.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, improve, automate, and document recurring Finance processes.
  • Use AI, automation, and emerging finance technology to reduce repetitive work and create capacity for higher-value analysis and business support.
  • Take ownership of responsibilities, investigate issues, and follow work through to completion without requiring detailed direction.
  • Work collaboratively with the Finance team to continue building cross-training, shared knowledge, and capacity across the department.
What You’ve Done:
  • Approximately 3–5+ years of progressive accounting and/or finance experience.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Meaningful experience participating in month-end close.
  • Experience with journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and other core accounting processes.
  • Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and working with financial datasets.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • NetSuite or other ERP experience is helpful but not required.
  • CPA is not required.
Who You Are:
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
  • Curious and proactive, with the ability to learn quickly and solve problems independently.
  • Ability and interest in analyzing financial information, not simply processing transactions.
  • Strong communication skills and a responsive, service-oriented approach to supporting internal teams.
  • Comfortable learning and using new technology, including AI and automation tools.
  • Highly self motivated and innovative
  • Willing to roll up your sleeves and dig in where needed
  • Have a genuine interest in living a clean lifestyle and curiosity in learning more about it.
What We Offer:
  • Mission driven culture - you will invariably make a difference and impact
  • A vibrant and devoted team, whose passion and positivity radiates through everything we do
  • Competitive total rewards package including; annual bonus, equity & company paid medical and dental, 401k contribution, unlimited time-off (just to name a few benefits!)
  • Opportunity to grow within a fast-paced, innovative company.
