Job summary

Campbell University seeks a Senior Accountant, General Ledger & Endowments to manage complex endowment and gift accounting on the Main Campus in Buies Creek, NC. The role reports to the Comptroller and requires CPA-ready credentials and strong Excel/data analysis skills.

Key responsibilities include GL activities, endowment setup and oversight, and collaboration with Advancement for financial reporting and audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA candidate preferred.
• Three years of relevant experience in a higher education institution required.
• Comprehensive computer experience with advanced Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity working with large data sets.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced accounting and analysis for gifts, pledges, endowments.
• Analyze donor agreements and gift documentation to determine appropriate accounting treatment and restriction classification.
• Create accounts for new Endowments and monitor amendments to ensure proper accounting.
• Support day-to-day, quarterly and fiscal year-end operations with balance sheet support and reconciliations.
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Maintain and reconcile pledge receivables, including discounting, allowances and aging analysis.
• Serve as primary contact for Advancement staff on accounting questions and reporting needs.
• Assist auditors with required documentation.
