Job summary

Paxos is seeking a Senior Accountant to own a broad set of close areas across expenses and the corporate balance sheet. You will book accruals, reconcile cash and crypto balances, and trace on-chain activity from block explorers to our platform.

You will automate manual close steps with AI-powered tools and contribute to DeFi and regulated crypto reporting. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in accounting, US GAAP knowledge, and crypto-native experience with Excel, Snowflake, and Claude.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally including public accounting or audit and time in-house.
• Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills; ability to run and troubleshoot Google Apps Scripts with AI assistance.
• Crypto-native: hands-on experience reviewing on-chain transactions and understanding wallets, addresses, tokens, gas fees.
• Strong written and verbal communication across APAC and European time zones.
• Comfortable using SQL queries in Snowflake and AI to modify them; not required to be a SQL expert.
• Understanding of realized vs. unrealized gains and losses, including ASC 350-60 for crypto assets.
• Experience with intercompany eliminations and consolidation concepts.
• AI-forward: daily use of tools like Claude and eagerness to maintain AI agents.
• Familiarity with DeFi activity (staking, lending, liquidity pools) is a plus.
• CPA or equivalent is preferred; US GAAP knowledge is important.

Responsibilities

• Own expense accounting and month-end close tasks outside of revenue, including balance sheet reconciliations and P&L flux analysis.
• Book and support bonus and other accruals; maintain prepaid schedules and amortization.
• Account for share-based compensation and support equity-related financial reporting.
• Reconcile the corporate balance sheet: bank accounts, platform cash, and digital asset/DeFi positions; tie GL and subledger to bank, custodian and on-chain balances.
• Trace on-chain transactions using block explorers (Arkham, Etherscan, BscScan) from the chain to the Paxos platform.
• Book realized and unrealized gains/losses; manage rollforwards and related support.
• Account for related party transactions, including AP and intercompany eliminations.
• Own AI agents (Claude) that pull data from on-chain sources; extend them for new chains or activities.
• Run monthly Snowflake queries and Google Apps Scripts; use AI to update or troubleshoot as needed.
• Identify manual steps in the close and automate them with proper review controls.
