Job summary

Paxos is seeking a Senior Accountant to own close process areas outside revenue, including expenses, accruals, and the corporate balance sheet. You will trace on-chain activity and reconcile digital assets, applying US GAAP within a crypto-native framework.

Key duties include managing share-based compensation, intercompany eliminations, and AI-agent-powered automation. This role blends traditional accounting with blockchain knowledge and AI-enabled workflows, with NYC Midtown hybrid work options

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally including public accounting or audit and time in-house.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA (or equivalent) preferred. Strong working knowledge of US GAAP.
• Experience owning close areas with minimal oversight: expense accruals, prepaids and amortization, balance sheet and bank reconciliations, and flux analysis.
• Working knowledge of share-based compensation accounting (ASC 718) and related party transactions.
• Crypto-native: hands-on experience reviewing transactions on-chain and tracing activity.
• Understanding of realized vs unrealized gains and losses and intercompany eliminations.

Responsibilities

• Own expense accounting and month-end close tasks outside of revenue, including balance sheet reconciliations and P&L flux analysis.
• Book and support bonus and other accruals, and maintain prepaid schedules and amortization.
• Account for share-based compensation and support equity-related financial reporting.
• Reconcile corporate balance sheet: bank accounts, platform cash, and digital asset positions with on-chain linkage.
• Trace on-chain transactions with block explorers and connect activity to our platform.
• Record gains/losses and maintain rollforwards.
• Handle related party transactions and intercompany eliminations.
• Oversee AI agents and extend them for new chains or activities.
• Run Snowflake queries and Google Apps Script workflows for close; automate where possible.
• Identify and automate manual close steps with appropriate controls.
• Engage with Paxos’s blockchain and DeFi initiatives and continuous AI-enabled improvement.
• For candidates with fewer than 4 years experience, the role is hybrid in NYC Midtown with in-office attendance.
