Job summary

Ascendo-Resources is seeking a Senior Accountant / Financial Controller in New York, NY (hybrid: 3 days onsite). You will report to the CFO and play a hands-on role across six entities, supporting audits, consolidations, and financial reporting while growing toward a Controller/CFO path.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, a relevant degree, and a strong grasp of financial controls, reconciliation, and cost accounting.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally at the Senior Accountant/Controller level.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience with bank reconciliations, consolidations, sales tax, accruals, and prepaids.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and ability to collaborate across departments.
• Inventory/consumer products experience strongly preferred.
• Motivated to grow into a Controller and eventually CFO role.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting activities across 6 entities
• Support annual audits and accounting write-up work
• Perform bank reconciliations and manage banking activities/wires
• Review invoices, POs, and resolve invoice-related issues
• Review financial results and margins
• Manage sales tax and consolidations
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and prepaids
• Support inventory and cost accounting
• Partner with AP, AR, Cost Management, and Invoice teams
• Assist with financial reporting and other accounting projects
• Work closely with the CFO and cross-functional teams
